The Grundfos SQ Series has been designed to fit inside a 3" ID pipe. As water is drawn past the motor into the pump, the pump’s tight clearance allows the water to cool the pump motor.
The SQ is a 2 lead wire + 1 ground wire pump and contains stainless steel built-in valve and outer shell, wire guard, inlet screen and outlet fitting. Commonly used for automatic operation using a pump pressure switch and properly sized pressure tank, Grundfos pumps can also be switched on or off manually using the correct supply voltage.
Grundfos deep well pumps offer many benefits compared to other submersible pumps. Soft starting technology means it doesn’t require the high surge of amperage that other pumps require, making it ideal when using a generator or a modified sine wave inverter.
With its built-in run dry feature, Grundfos pumps shut down if they run dry of water and wait to see if water is present before starting — with over and under voltage shut down protection. This pump is also a solution to an irregular 4" well casing that won't accept a 4" pump any longer.

Selecting a Grundfos SQ Submersible Pump
NOTE: The main difference between an SQ and SQE model pump is that the SQE model starts as an SQ model but has communication electronics added. The SQE model can then communicate with the CU300/CU301 SmartFlo controllers without using any additional wires(similar to DSL and the telephone working together on the same wires). If your simply using a pressure switch or manual power supply, the SQ pump model operates similar to a standard submersible well pump at full speed only. The SQE model can be wired straight to the power supply without using a controller and used as an SQ model at full speed only but without the use of the controller its variable speed ability and other controller functions are not available. Both SQ/SQE models have soft start, over/under voltage protection and run dry features when wired direct to required voltage.
